Ph.D. Openings in Solid Mechanics
(Posted on September 23, 2022)
Two Ph.D. positions are available starting Spring 2023 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNH. The positions are broadly in the area of multi-physics mechanics of soft and complex materials.
We are looking for highly motivated students with bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering mechanics, aerospace engineering, materials science, physics, applied math, or any related field.
Candidates with background and prior experience in one or more of the following areas will be preferred: i) solid mechanics, ii) computational mechanics, iii) soft materials, iv) experimental mechanics. Good programming experience will be a plus.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should email Mrityunjay at firstname.lastname@example.org expressing their interest, background, and motivation to pursue graduate studies. Please include your CV and contacts of 2-3 references. For application instructions, please visit https://ceps.unh.edu/mechanical-engineering/program/phd/mechanical-engineering#collapse-wapirequirements.
The current research interests of the group lie in the multi-physics mechanics of materials, often with problems inspired from biological systems. We integrate experimental methods with tools and techniques from solid mechanics, materials science, polymer physics, soft matter, and applied mathematics in pursuit of these goals.
